The Flash Season 7 SPOILER REVIEW: Pretty Enjoyable, I’d Say

Let’s See- Something cheesy……….I GOT IT: “Even The Fast– Can Get FURIOUS…..

Hello, everyone! As you all probably know by now: I’m a Huge DC fan. I just know more character and storylines from the franchise. That’s not to say that I like some of the stuff they put out. For every Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, Aquaman(D@MN RIGHT I SAID IT!!), and Joker– you have the first Suicide Squad movie, the original Justice League movie, Green Lantern, and a few other pieces that just aren’t that good. That said; I do watch everything they put out. And this extends to their CW TV shows. Some have gone down hill– some thrived– some old ones left, and new came in to replace them. CW’s “The Flash” is one that has made it- but has kind of gone “down hill.” It seemed to pick itself back up in season 5, but then such and such happened.

Due to my living conditions; I was rendered unable to see season 6 of the show. So going into season 7- I was left a little more than just “confused.” I did my best to keep up with what was going on, but I was still lost. 2 characters came in that I hadn’t seen prior- references to events of the show that happened last season- and changes to the characters roles and positions in the show. I just kind of felt like I was diving into a different show. And YET………That May Have Helped Me Like It More- if that makes sense.…………Though it kind of feels like we’ve been stuck on the “Opening” of the post. So I guess I’ll say here that this will be my SPOILER Review for Season 7 of the CW series: “The Flash-” who just so happens to be one of my Favorite DC Superheroes- along side the likes of Batman and Green Lantern(even after that movie). Though that’s mostly BECAUSE of this show!!

“The Fastest Man Alive”

Just a Brief History on how I got into the show: It was my Sophmore year of High School, and some of my friends were talking about this show. I wasn’t to interested initially, but the more they talked about it- the cooler it started to sound. So I decided to look for the show on the Cox On Demand app thingy. Low and behold- the 3 most recent episodes of Season 2 at the time. Boy, Oh Boy- Was I ever in LOVE. I liked the effects for the show, and the acting, and just the way Zoom came off whenever I got to see him. He really did feel like one of the most menacing Villains on the show- even to this day. Throw me all your Savitars and your dang ol’ Godspeeds and ya godd@mned DEVOES– I will say to this day that Hunter Zolomon/Zoom is the best villain the show has ever had……………accept maybe Reverse Flash, cause season 1 was pretty stellar.

But in any case; here I am- 5 seasons later to tell you that “The Flash” is still kicking! Just not very high. If I had to sum up this season of the show in a single sentence(not good at coming up with single words to describe something), I would say- being of sound mind: “Good- But I’ve Seen Better.” It’s not that this was a bad season or anything- it was actually rather funny and enjoyable. I simply mean that I’ve seen the show at it’s absolute Best– that being Seasons 1, 2, and 5. And I feel like this season could have been better. Maybe it was the lack of content that held it back for me, but again- it felt like the lack of context helped me to enjoy it a little more. Like it was the first time watching “The Flash” again.

Part 1: The Season Finale Opener

The opening 3 episodes of Season 7 were actually hold over episodes from season 6- caused by the Coronavirus causing the whole world to “stop,” and filming the show had to cease for quarantine. Thus; they had to prematurely end season 6. and because I didn’t watch season 6- I was pretty lost. So seeing things like Barry being on “limited Speed” because of what the Multiversal reset did to the Speed Force was kind of strange to just “dive into. I could honestly kind of tell that this was an episode that was made to be more towards the end of a season- especially when you consider how episode 1 leaves off. At least- I think it was episode 1.

“Freezing Speed”

This was probably the COOLEST thing the show has ever done. So; Barry taps into a new power of the Artificial Speed force they made to compensate for a lack of Speed Force: Speed Thinking– being able to “think” at super speed, processing information as it comes in faster than anyone around him and being able to come up without multiple scenarios to combat different problems that arise from a bunch of variables. But the problems ends up being that the more and more he starts planning- the more he starts to think- The more and more he becomes like a “Machine.” Getting Iris out of the Mirror World becomes less about his love for her and more about defeating Mirror Master- as she has the information needed to defeat her.

He even outs Mirror Master’s “Big Secret” to the media, outing her as a villain and a Mirror clone of the original, and making it so that she can’t leave her office. Though this pushes her to want to destroy the city with Multiple Mirror Clones. But Team Flash can’t very well let him just sacrifice 2 people they care about just to save Iris- and not even because he loves her. So they pulls out all the stops to try and stop his plan; Frost even shoots herself up Velocity 9 to momentarily give herself Speed!! Which was like THE Coolest Thing I’ve Seen On This Show(No Pun Intended). I mean; the Running CG is what it is- it’s never been all that great, and probably won’t ever be. But the thing that made it so Interesting was seeing her utilize the lighting from the use of the Speed Force in conjunction with her ice powers to make a Lighting ball that begins to freeze Barry on contact. Unfortunately I cannot find the image so I’ll instead use the image of Eva McCulloch- The Mirror Master I keep referencing.

Mirror Mirror On My Screen- This Lady Looks Like She’d Be Really Mean………..

But this battle comes to an end when Barry’s contingency plan comes into play. And the way he’s acting and thinking– it’s reminding me a lot of Season 4’s Main Villain “The Thinker/” Clifford Devoe. Specifically what I was hoping he would be like: Calm; Cold; Calculating; Collected; Always has a Contingency plan. Barry in this episode is what Devoe should have been. The whole marketing gimmick behind that season was that “The Fastest Man Alive Would Fight The Fastest Mind Alive.” And I feel like they didn’t really “play into” that in that season.

I understand that Season 4 of “The Flash” is widely considered to be one of the shows Worst Seasons, and………..I CAN’T disagree with that claim. But I think it had a lot of potential t be the most interesting and compelling seasons of the show if they had given us any indication that The Thinker was “The Fastest Mind.” Here, though; Barry is showing us how “fast” a mind can be under the influence of the Speed Force(or at least; a Counterfeit)!! He outsmarted his whole team, found a way to forcibly bring Iris out of the Mirror World, and found a way to overcome Eva. So cool- but too late.

This storyline comes to an end when Eva- confused, angry, and alone- brings forth an Army of Mirror Clones to destroy Central City. But using the recreated Speed Force and Iris’ new found knowledge and understanding of Eva; they were able to talk her down and get her to stop. In the end; she left- returning everyone she took to the Mirror world. She even returns Camila and Captain Sing- who ends up quitting as Chief Of Central City Police, naming Joe his successor- paying off what was set up in Season 3 about him becoming “Chief Of Police” in the future.

Part 2: The Force Family Crisis

The Fundamental Forces Of The Universe

This part of the season was somewhat reduced due to the filming problems that arose during the high of the Coronavirus. BECAUSE of that d@mnedable virus that I want to stop talking about; we got these next 2 reduced to make room for the end of the last. As such; this arcs probably weren’t as good and well written as they could have been. but even with that; I think both were solid and coherent. Because the lack of time for “filler episodes” that were just made so they could film the BIG stuff. But without those; every episode was utilized in either building the main storyline, or paying off the smaller ones.

This storyline starts with an episode reintroducing the Flash’s Magic themed Nemesis from the future: Abra Kadabra. He comes from a future further than Thawne’s, so all the tech he uses looks like magic to us in the 21st century. However; THIS version of Abra Kadabra is inherited the memories from before the Multiverse was rebooted. So he gained a memory of a life he himself never had- one where he had a wife and baby. But then Crisis happened, and somethings did not carry over. His family was such a casualty. So he ended up seeking revenge on the Flash- the person he held responsible for his family being erased. And to this end- he plans to “make Central City disappear” so that Barry feels even a fraction of the loss he’s felt.

But unlike his first appearance in season 3; Barry’s use of “Talk No Jutsu” gets through to Kadabra, and he turns off his device. As they are about to shake hands to symbolize their understanding- Fuerza shows up and KILLS Kadabra! Though he IS a Magician from the FUTURE so it’s always possible for him to come back via “escaping death” or just coming from an alternate version of the future. But what this is is them trying to get Fuerza/ Alexa/ The Strength Force over by having her take out a villain that gave Flash a problem. Not to mention the fact that she needed some kind of personal turmoil to get over. The way Alexa becomes the behemoth “Fuerza” is essentially the same as the Hulk(as with any character with a super strength form): She gets upset and then just rampages around for a bit. In this case; they were doing charity work and Kadabra ruined it and she was all Upset et al……..Very basic.

We meet Bashir Malik/ “Psych” later on as a villain using his psychic powers to “get what he feels he deserves” and get payback on the people who wronged him before hand. He gets Cisco to see something pretty damaging- something he goes as far as to Lie to hide- but we never really find out what that was. It felt like they just dropped it because they didn’t have plan for it. I mean; if he just his girlfriend dying then…….What’s there to hide from his “family?” I think Frost saw Caitlynn abandoning her, and Iris did in fact see Iris die. So……..Why hide it? We also see Psych display abilities like “Genjutsu-” casting illusions on people and making them see things that he wants. And I think that he was a pretty interesting character to follow around; I definitely like his cynical personality and the way he talks about his family. He also has some of the funniest dialogue with Iris, like saying “What now, ‘Mom?'” And again; I like his relationship with Alexa- he does come off like an older brother. But only by like a year.

I also like his mask

Deon was the ill-named “Still Force,” and was actually a former Football player who was injured in the last game of the season in High School. And from that you can gather where his story goes: He got injured and had to get nails in his knee; couldn’t get that college scholarship he wanted, thus could not go to college and has a sucky job now; has the power to control time so he’s trying to relive his “glory days” and undo the moment that messed up his life. Not very originalEXTREMELY whiney. Although I have to say that I Did like his character. I usually have a problem with this kind of narrative, but I think he was handled quite alright. I like how he made that crack about Tony Romo- even though I have NO EARTHLY CONCEPT as to who the flying f*ck that guy is despite hearing his name so much I might as well hate on him to.

And then we come to the main objective of this story arc: Nora. We explore the Speed Force’s thought process, and how it’s not all that different from a Human being. I have to give it up to the actress- Michelle Harrison; she did a really good job portraying a Fundamental Force of the Universe. I like how “alive” she felt, and how you could see that her feelings can be hurt. That said; she also did a good job at being the “Villain.” She was basically relentless in trying to kill her brothers and sister, and it felt like it came from genuine “fear.” I remember in season 2 when we first met the Speed Force- how it seemed to be an “all knowing, multiversal, time spanning force of nature-” one who seemed to be a little “unconcerned” knowing that it’ll die with the Universe. Though I guess people are more willing to accept death when it’s “time” vs what the Forces seemed to be doing to Nora. To see a force of nature personified- given a “Human” shape and watching it begin to understand human concepts like “untimely death,” fear, and love- Pretty Good Work There.

And then you have how Barry and Iris choose to handle the situation in the beginning- Iris being the one that wants to reach out to them, and Barry being the one that wanted to stop their creation. But seeing the moment the other Forces came to be- Barry realized that he couldn’t do it. He couldn’t prevent his “children” from being born. So he decides to deal with the problem in the present- using tried-and-true tactics like trying to appeal to their “humanity” or talking them down so they listen to reason. Talking down Alexa was a “Team effort;” Iris talked down Bashir herself; Barry managed to talk down Deon; and the other forces took Barry and Iris’ words to heart and used them to talk down their big sister.

Unicornships - Shipping pairings that don't exist., “Fuerza. You named it Strength? I guess that made...
The First Force

I think that this storyline was pretty well done, all things considered. I mean; I still hate the reason they gave for the name “Still Force,” but that itself isn’t enough for me to like despise the storyline. The forces were all pretty diverse as characters- though they all seemed to follow the theme of “tragedy having befell them.” And they way they handled it wasn’t bad– maybe a little predictable and somewhat whiney. But yeah; it was a pretty good story. And it had really good pacing, I feel. The Next Part, though……………

Part 3: Bart Allen Proper And The Godspeed War

This storyline is a carry over from the beginning of Season 6- dealing with Vortex and the appearance of multiple Godspeeds in the present. When “Crisis On Infinite Earths” began; the story shifted over to dealing with that…………..or so I hear. And when the Crisis ended; it went back to dealing with Vortex, the new Mirror Master, and the Aftermath of Crisis. Then the Pandemic happened and filming had to stop. Pick up with the first 3 episodes; we see Barry’s Flash powers kicking into overdrive to try and find a way to save Iris et al- You read all of that earlier. We come to this storyline with more of the same: Just a bunch of Godspeeds that don’t speak and just yell a whole bunch of noise. But everything changes when an Army Of Those Godspeeds come out of hiding and attack……………EACH OTHER?

Let me Explain

SO………………….This is an interesting take on the Godspeed character. So; August Hart came back to the past to steal Barry Allen’s speed and become the “Ultimate Speedster.” And just to terrorize and torture Team Flash; he fractured himself in 13– 12 “Godspeeds,” and 1 amnesiac August. But the copies ended up gaining independence, and broke off into 2 factions- Faction A wanting to find August and continue the mission to steal Barry’s speed, and the other wanting “true” independence through killing the original. Thus: The GODSPEED WAR– encompassing all of Central City and giving Team Flash more and than enough trouble. And with Cisco having left with Camila to “do other things with his life” and Frost being locked up for her crimes as “Killer Frost;” the team was down in terms of Manpower.

I think this “Godspeed War” was pretty cool when we got to see it; the fight choreography for the Godspeeds was handled and done really well- something that you would expect from hallway battles in this Universe. Something that I think a lot of people will miss about the show that started it all. My only real “complaint” about this aspect of the season is that we didn’t get enough of them fighting. But another good aspect is how well they handled them whenever each faction would fight against Barry. It felt the proper amount of “overwhelming,” without fixing the apparent “problem” that the writers seemed to have had with how they handled the first 3 seasons. Apparently; they didn’t want to work with anymore Speedster antagonists because it “conflicted” with Barry’s opening monologue. “How can he claim to be the ‘Fastest Man Alive’ if there’s someone faster than him?” they asked.

And it’s like………………..Yes- but also No. Barry becoming faster is the what’ll help him get closer to his comic book self- the version of him that can move “as fast as he wants.” And how will he know that he can if he doesn’t have someone to challenge him and show him there’s another level to climb. It’s the principle of Shonen Battle series- and a fundamental fact of life. There was really no issue with doing another Speedster villain– aside from the fact that you were running(No Pun Intended) out of them. IN ANY CASE: The battles that Barry had against each Godspeed faction was pretty interesting- particularly when they all tried to steal his speed, which is what they came back for in the first place.

The Conflicting August Hart

Another aspect I like of this story arc is how well it utilized what was built up by the last story arc- how Barry’s increased Speed meant there was more of it for the Godspeed’s to steal from him. But it also served to keep Iris safe because of what happened with the Mirror Master arc. She had trouble keeping “stable” in this plain of reality, so Deon used the “Still Force” to keep her “still” until they find a permanent fix(Though this was just a reason to explain why Iris isn’t there since her actress- Candice Patton- went home to visit because she was homesick). And also how the other Forces were working to keep the Universe in check while Big Sis came “down” to help Team Flash in the final confrontation.

But the kicker of this arc was that it introduced a character that the show kept teasing and utilizing aspects of in the Nora West-Allen/ Excess character. The One, The Only: Bartholemew Henry Allen The 2nd– otherwise known as Bart Allen. And when I say they got him as close to accurate as possible to his comic book self; I mean it’s like the boy jumped out of the comics. I mean, yeah; they made him Barry’s son rather than his grandson, and he may have been mixed in the show because they made iris black. But it’s pretty much the same character- dialogue and all. Only he brings with him an interesting backstory as well. As we learn in his debut episode: He and Godspeed have a very Barry/ Reverse Flash relationship. They became arch enemies after Godspeed killed Jay Garrick- a mentor and surrogate father figure to Bart- in front of the boy. From that day on; they were enemies. To such an extent that even these fragments knew to stop and fight against him.

He carries the same energy- even in emotional scenes

The Allen children are very fun character, I feel; I think that they managed to differentiate themselves enough to where they carry the same “upbeat, positive” energy without feeling like you just ate an entire Birthday cake on your own. You can definitely tell that this version of the Nora West-Allen character is a little older and a little more experienced than the one we met in season 5. I feel like the inclusion of Bart in this timeline is partially responsible for that; having a younger sibling to look after- in addition to knowing the mistakes you made when you were around that age- can make you “grow up” quick.

At also helped that this version of Barry and Iris- having learned of their future shortcomings as parents from the Season 5 iteration- told her of that Nora’s experiences and used that information to guide this one in a “better” direction. She’s able to keep calm and focused to counter-balance Bart’s impulsive behavior and mind set when it comes to Godspeed. She’s also much less of a “Daddy’s girl” in comparison as well, as this version seemed to grow up with Barry in her life. Though it could also just be that the timing and pacing of the season didn’t allow those aspects to shine through. Because Bart’s character description called him a “Momma’s boy,” but he didn’t seem anymore eager to see his mom than a regular son.

This arc also sees John Wesley Shipp reprising his role as the OG Flash- Jay Garrick. As per usual; he served as something like a “dad” to these younger speedsters- particularly Bart because of their future connection. He even gives Bart the same advice about calming down and thinking rationally before he acts. We didn’t get enough of him I feel to say whether or not his appearances in this season were any better or worse than his past ones. I don’t even think the reason for that is all that dumb, either. I mean; the Godspeeds jumped him to further get under Bart’s skin- it’s honestly pretty ingenious how they reduced his time in the season. And I feel that they did so because he’s an older guy and THAT is still kind of floating around. So they didn’t want to take any chances with him catching it.

I think that the final battle against the Godspeed army was pretty well made- the entirety of the Flash Family showing off the unique things they could do with their speed. Between Bart and his throwing stars and Nora’s speed whip; it was all very cool. Made little sense and didn’t have much foreshadowing behind it, but cool all the same. It made each of them feel like unique and experienced Speedster’s in their own right- each of them getting creative in how they do things. But I definitely think that the COOLEST part came from the final battle of the episode- in which Barry had to team up with Eobard Thawne to stop August- now the one and only!!

The Flash And Reverse Flash vs Godspeed- Speed Saber Showdown!!!

This was the coolest part- Barry having Speed Force Nora bring Eobard Thawne out of like “Speed Prison,” and he and Barry made these Speed Force light Sabers to combat August- who Dual Wields against them. And it’s just really well choreographed– how they moved when they fought and how they dueled on a staircase. And when Thawne stabbed him in front of Barry, knocking him out- you just KNOW he did that on purpose to f*ck with Barry. Their animosity has always been one of the coolest and most interesting dynamics in the show; between how Eobard views Barry and how Barry reacts to just seeing him- it makes for really good character interactions whenever they’re forced to work together. Thawne has this smug sense of being “one step ahead-” as if he’ll win even when he loses. And how Barry always has to be talked down from beating him to death in every initial meeting. But here; Barry strait up told him that they didn’t have the time for their “usual routine,” and got right into battling Godspeed.

After defeating August; we get a scene that displays the new gap in their speed and power- one in which Barry is the dominant one, while Thawne only sees him as a “blur.” And seeing how Thawne takes to being slower than Barry is now- after having “made him” the Flash in season 1- was a real pleasure. And his vow to become faster really excites me for the next season. Though it was kind of surprising that he didn’t try to swoop in and kill Iris when they renewed their vows at the end of the season- That was a REAL shock. I was just waiting and WAITING and WAITING for him to pop in and be like “Ha Ha- I just killed your wife and kids!!” But I guess not.

…………….I think that might be all that I wanted to talk about for this part. I know I’m leaving a lot of stuff out, but I have a plan for all of that. As for this arc itself; I think it was pretty good, and I feel like it used what little time it had wisely. This was the main arc of the season, so I naturally had a lot more to say about it than I do about anything else this season. But this itself is not the last thing I’ll talk about.

Part 4: Side Stories, Character Departure, And Whatever Else I Forgot To Mention

I was writing this post- thinking that it wouldn’t be as long as it ended up being- when I realized: I forgot about the Mirror Master Stuff. So I added that in, but then i realized that there was a LOT of side stuff going on in this season. So rather than derail every other portion of the post and make each of them longer; I decided to talk about the less important stuff here. Side Note: Got Back To This After Not being able to write for a while. So if this part is a little cr@ppier and disjointed- that’s why. I’m truly sorry for that.

I apologize.

Now; the biggest character departure would obviously have to be Cisco. In fact; I think he may have been the only departure. It’s……..been a minute- IN ANY CASE; I think it could have used a bit more work, and a little more build up. Well……not like it WASN’T building up to this; Season 5 ended with him taking the cure to get rid of his Vibe powers. But due to how important having a character like Vibe or Gypsy was to “Crisis On Infinite Earths-” he made a new suit that would replicate his powers, becoming “Mecha Vibe.” The PROBLEM: In that season; the actor had already decided to leave the show to pursue a career on Broadway(as would some actors for the Arrowverse such as Melissa Benoist from Supergirl– though she only left for a little bit).

Carlos Valdes who played Cisco had felt that it was time to “move on,” so he decided that season 5 would be his last. And- controversial as it may be- I think Season 5 is the 3rd best, after seasons 2 and 1, of course. They did a really good job with the story of that season, and I think that Cisco’s departure would have held up better there that it did here. The way his scene was shot in that season finale- of him walking away in slow motion, hair blowing in the wind- was better than him just “looking around reminiscently” or whatever that was. Not one of my favorite scenes; it would have been much better if it weren’t that ham fisted.

24 Times Cisco Ramon From "The Flash" Was An Actual Cinnamon Roll | The flash, The flash grant gustin, Flash characters
This would have also been an appropriate goodbye.

I kind of liked Joe’s side story during the season. He stepped down as the Captain of the CCPD because he couldn’t handle the pressure anymore. That- and a new Meta Human Task Force called the “Municipal Logistics Commission” from the Governor came to town and ended up clashing with the way he did things. But they outranked him, so he had no choice but to comply. This ultimately lead him to arrest Caitlin on the charge of being Killer Frost(though at this point- she and Frost have begun living as separate people). That gets into a different side plot, but more on that in a little bit.

His conflict with the Task Force Head “Kristen Kramer” would come to a head when he starts digging into her history. As it turns out; she was part of a group in the Government dedicated to squashing Terrorist cells. But during one mission; one of her men- a childhood friend of hers named Adam- sold out her unit to the enemy. He had tried to at least save her, but………..no dice, and she ended up watching her whole team die right in front of her, blaming herself and some Meta Human for the attack. The fact that a Meta Human was involved in the conflict; she began to despise all Meta Humans- leading to her joining the Logistics Commission.

Meet Kristen Kramer

I kind of liked her conflict with Frost and Joe, although she ended up falling into the same theme of “All Meta Humans Are Monsters” mindset we see all to often. Julian was kind of whiney about it; Cicada was interesting but had a very “basic” story; and here it’s just “Julian In Power.” However, whereas Julian’s hatred came from a place of envy; Kristen’s closer to Cicada in the form of a tragedy. It made her act prejudice towards all Meta’s- even characters like Barry who’s been doing the right things since Day 1, and Frost who was trying to atone for her time as “Killer Frost.”

By the end of the Season; we see that she was a Meta Human the entire time, having the ability to copy other Meta powers. She displayed this when she copied a Godspeed’s speed and to save Joe. An interesting twist, and I like that she herself wasn’t aware of it. Like; it would have been easy to just say that she “lost control and killed them by accident,” But when she figured it out, then she started to really think about the way she looked at Meta Humans. Which I guess is kind of messed up- she only started thinking about treating them differently because she was now one of them- but I actually kind of like that kind of story. Having “walk in someone else’s shoes” rather just “Talk No Jutsu” them into submission.

There was an episode developing Chester and his relationship to his father, but that can be summed up as the story of a Father helping his son in an indirect way. It was a nice scene and a nice story beat in a very good episode, but not something to focus on. So I think the LAST thing I would like to talk about is Frost and her journey through this whole season- from gaining her own independence from Caitlin, to being a wanted fugitive, to her little crush on the b@stardly “Chillblain.” This season was technically 3 things at once.

The Frost Sisters

I liked that she got her own body- it allowed us to see both Caitlin and Frost working in tandem without having to do the whole “voice over” bit. it also allowed Danielle Panabaker to show us how well she’s able to work by herself during scenes. I tend to like solo interactions more than group ones- I don’t do so good in groups. I also kind of liked the conflict that went one between Frost and Caitlin- from the body sharing aspect of their relationship to their conflict over how to handle Frost’s legal situation. When they finally got their own separate bodies; Frost was happy to be free- to go where she wanted whenever and not have to disappear when they needed Caitlin. She could help in her own way- not to mention the freedom to explore life for herself without having to worry about how it would affect Caitlin.

On the other end- you had Caitlin who misses the strong connection she had with her “sister.” And worked endlessly on a way to rejoin the 2 of them. But she ultimately respects Frosts decision, and even grows to enjoy just having her around. But when the idea of losing her comes in the form of her being arrested for murders conducted as “Killer Frost;” she begins to panic and work on a way to help her. Though that way would have her having to take the cure and becoming a regular person. PROBLEMS:

  1. Because of the nature of her existence; they don’t know how the cure will affect her. Because she came about with those powers- being simply a personality that came with them- “Curing” her may have have resulted in her death.
  2. She didn’t want it- her powers made her who she was, and it would be like removing a piece of her.

The alternative to the cure was prison- which would further separated the sisters. Caitlin worked endlessly on a cure that wouldn’t threaten Frost’s life, but she still refused to take it. So they have a heart-to-heart about it, and Frost decided to take the jail time in exchange. She gets out a few episodes later, of course- which is where she runs into the “Chillblain” character.

Another Ice Villain

Chillblain was…………….interesting. Like I said before; he’s a little bit of b@stard- lying to pet clinics to get their medication so he can sell them himself on the streets. Or trying to talk his way out of debts to some big gangs, theft, drug dealing and more. But his “crowning achievement” comes in the form of his “cold gloves.” They work on the same principle as Captain Cold’s cold gun, but are better in my opinion because they don’t “fall out of his hands” or anything- they’re much more versatile. And his backstory was pretty unique, I felt. I like the idea of him being “fascinated” by the cold.

When he was little; he fell through the ice on a frozen river. He almost died, but he was saved. This experience, however, instilled within him a belief that “Controlling cold is control over the power of life and death.” That said; that ideology all-to quickly dissipates and he becomes “just another super criminal.” I would have preferred him become a actual supporting antagonist- one that may have been approached by one of the Godspeed factions to help take out the other, as well as the Flash and his assortment of Speedster allies. But instead he just became a “crook with powers.” Kind of lame.

But in any case; Frost shows a slight attraction to him- even after he’s revealed to be a bad guy. It starts with an attraction to his body and the fake personality he put up. But even after revealing his true nature; Frost can’t help but be attracted to him. Her little crush begins to grow, and it even starts to change Chillblain for the better. He gets away in the end, but promises that they’ll see each other again soon- setting him up for his next appearance. And I’m actually kind of looking forward to it. Though I’m also looking forward to him having on a shirt under that honestly cool(no pun intended) jacket of his.

Jon Cor vs The Comics

I like the actor they got- I think he did really well with what he had. And I like his chemistry with the Frost character. So I hope that he returns at some point next season.

Conclusion

In all; I enjoyed season 7 of The Flash. I think it was very well paced and well written(enough), and I’m honestly just happy to be watching the show again. It may not be seasons 1 or 2, or even 5. But it was still very good. I’m eagerly awaiting season 8. And…………..THAT’S ALL!! Sorry if it got a little “rushed” towards the end; I’m still getting used to writing regularly again. I’m kind of tred, too. But hopefully I was able to bring you an entertaining post. Be sure to leave a like and comment, and visit my pages on Facebook and Twitter. That’s all I got for the lot of ya, today. Tile the next post, my lovely readers; Stay Safe and Live Life To Your Own Fullest!!!! Later!
